1280 vs 1160 for Piezography

In one of the threads you referred to your use of the 1280 for Piezography. Is there any difference in Pieazography print quality from the 1280 and the 1160? Jon Cone has stated that the Piezo drivers for the 3000 and the 1160 are "works of art" in terms what they get from these old printers. I suppose that the Piezo driver for the 1280 was easier to write, but are the Piezo prints from the 1280 as good as that from the 1160?

Here in Bangkok, I can still pick up a new 1160 for $300 or less which I could use as a backup to my old 1160. Alternatively, if I get the new 2100 (2200), I could convert my current 1290 to Piezography, but the cost for a new CIS for the 1290 I guess would cost as much as an 1160. Also, is there any big advantage with the 1160 in not having to battle the chippd cartridge of the 1280?
