Digital BW, The Print

Hellow all, just printed a pic using MIS VM inks without (forgot) 
applying a curve. Got a beautiful pic, just like the screen. 
Reprinted with the MW curve and got a much higher contrast pic. 
Highlight allmost blown out. The pic without the curve gave me a tone 
between MW and NC. Whats up with the contrast change.
