With MIS VM and a 1290 I get an X-Rite black (100% test strip patch) density
readings of 1.68 with EAM, 1.65 with German Etching, and 1.75 with PhotoRag.

The German Etching has more texture than the PhotoRag and is warmer.  The
PhotoRag looks brighter under florescent light, even though the X-Rite gives
them both the same visual density reading.  I'd guess the German Etching has
less, if any, brighteners.
