If you cut the negatives apart and mount them in slide mounts, you can file them by subject. They are easier to scan in mounts, too. Each of my 300,000+ images has a unique number; for example 61953-31208. The 619 means Honduras, 53 means families, 312 is the number of the hanging slide page and 08 is the slot on the page where that image goes.
