Digital BW, The Print

Hi all

I've been on this list for a while, trying to make a decide whether 
the time has come to ditch the black and white darkroom.  My inaction 
has been compounded by some health problems of my own and of an 
elderly family member who I have to look after.

However, I've come to realise that my life is a case of running to 
stand still most of the time.  So it's time to give it a go.

I've decided to try MIS VM in an 1160.  My G4 set in the 1160 and 3rd 
party dyes in the 1290 just don't cut it for black and white.

What I'm uncertain about is the greyscale working space to use.  My 
PS colour preferences are set to US prepress defaults (dot gain 
20%).  However, I remember reading somewhere about using grey gamma 
2.2.  Why would that be so?
