Digital BW, The Print

Can I snailmail you some of my images so maybe you could help me 
figure out what's wrong?

Shadows, like muddy goo and the resolution, with images at 291 dpi, 
just nothing special.  I'm really disappointed thusfar.  I'm hoping 
that when I FINALLY get a paper other than EAM, I'll see 
satisfaction, but thusfar, eventhough they've got a color cast, my 
Canon s900 on Ilford Galerie Classic Pearl is doing a better job 
with b&w than is my Epson 1280 w/Piezotone warm neutrals.  My images 
are from a Canon d60 using Photoshop 7.

I'm just not "getting" it.
