Re: [Digital BW] PS Masks & blending modes

The best thing I found was the Total Training Photoshop series of Video
tapes, for PS 5.5.

http://www.totaltraining.com/index2.htm

It's authored by Deke McClelland, who wrote The Photoshop Bible. There is a
new one out for PS 6, but he shows a different masking technique on that one
I don't like as well. This video series is expensive, but it's also
extensive. The 5.5 series is 20 tapes which total 32 hours. If I remember
correctly the 6.0 series is shortened to 12 tapes. Either way they are good
learning tools. As I have the 5.5 series, and 6.0, I've been meaning to sell
the 5.5 series. Contact me off list if you are interested. Figure around
$200 delivered, as it's in mint condition. Most of the tapes haven't even
been viewed.

PS, other than that Real World PS is pretty good. Actually I find most books
are too shy on masking to really recommend one over another, it takes
looking at a few to get the hang of it. Unfortunately, even when you fully
get the idea how they work, the workflow for them is not intuitive. That
more than any other reason is probably why I prefer the video. It's easier
to follow the continuity of the manuevers.

I bet there are lots of free tutorial out there on the net. Try a search on
Google for photoshop+masking, I'll bet you'll get a bunch of stuff. Here, I
tried it, see if this link loads my search results for you:
