Digital Printmakers! The final list of participants was posted yesterday. I highly recommend you read Jason DeFontes' print exchange suggestions, especially in regard to packaging and shipping. These are full of excellent advice based on his experiences running the first PiezoBW exchange. At the very least reading it will fill you with admiration and empathy for me (and oh yeah, him too). Here are the much sought-after rules for this exchange: - You should produce a "B&W" print from a digital source, obviously there is lots of room for flexibility in that description - max size 8.5X11 or A4, make sure your shipping box can take both since you'll get back both sizes guaranteed - You need to send me 31 prints - Please email me a small (640 pixel largest dimension) jpeg of your image so I can include it in a Web gallery for the edification of those not fortunate enough to have taken part. This is optional of course but I think it'll be cool and I don't need it until the end of the month. - As soon as possible, please email me a prediction of what ink/paper/printer you think you'll use. If you've already done this, no need to resend as I have it recorded. Many participants have requested a snapshot of this info in advance of starting to print in order to help them select the direction they want to go technically. Sounds reasonable to me. - Individual protective print sleeves must be used to hold your print and information sheet sets; this will make my life much easier, the sorting quicker and your prints safer. - The info sheet can contain as much or as little info as you wish, but it's intersting to read a bit about the artist, image capture and processing details, the camera used, printer and inks etc. - I really liked getting signed prints and regretted not signing mine for the first PiezoBW exchange, so please consider doing this. It is understood that these prints are for personal use only. - Since we have many individuals who have taken part in other exchanges, please choose an image you have not exchanged before - Enclose a pre-paid shipping label or even better, the USPS/FedEx scheme Jason DeFontes recommends. The UPS and FedEx websites will allow you to set up a personal account and print your own labels - Please try hard to avoid having to send cash or cheques for return postage; I will try and find time to set up PayPal just in case. - Jason's advice was posted in the files section Deadline - October 1st, 2001 Addresses: I will email y'all off-list since one is my home address. Gentlepeople, start your nozzle checks ------- Shaun Granleese
