The water-based poly (Varathane) fared much better. In some cases, a bit of yellowing isn't a bad thing though. Just for fun I coated a print with shellac. It's the closest I've come to a glossy-fibre type surface. Even super-blonde shellac will yellow a bit, but the surface can be worked to achieve any type of lustre you'd want.
