Digital BW, The Print

I have tried printing on Sommerset Enhanced Velvet using the MIS-VM 
inks and the Roark curves without any further ajustment on a 1200 
(that is all of the standard recommended settings).  While it is 
noticably warmer than the same print on EAM with somewhat less detail 
(I suspect as a  result of the textured paper) the effect is 
pleasing. However, the print clearly could stand some fiddling either 
with paper type or perhaps in the Epson driver's transfer curve.  
Does anyone have any suggestions?  This paper is a bit expensive to 
experiment with.
