Mark, I saw your print as well as other samples from Robert; single- and double-coated. Some smooth papers like PhotRag approached the illusion of that elusive air-dried fiber glossy print. Others didn't fair so well . What impressed me was that - with the right paper - the sheen was pleasant and not overtly glossy/plasticky. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems that 2 coats by rod will do the trick. I didn' t quite like any single coated samples (except a Japanese paper). Like you, I don't know how much hassle it will be for large (24") prints. Let us know when you "know".
