As one of the guys who showed up at the Group Get-Together, I would lilke to thank Mark Tucker and Brian Whitney for inviting us. It was a great meeting. Besides having the opportunity to chat with a couple of dozen people all struggling with similar issues, we could actually lay our prints on the same long table and compare them. One of my goals in attending the Javits Center meeting was to see the new Ultrachrome inks and to compare them with the current ones. Unfortunately, this was impossible to do at the Javits Center. Epson had some Ultrachrome prints on Epson paper, and Jon Cone had his prints, but comparisons were not easy. This is where the Get-Together really was valuable. We were able to hold prints side by side in the same light and compare them. Mark Tucker's prints, by the way, impressed everyone. He has a wonderful portfolio. As he was the first to notice, however, his Ultrachrome prints looked pretty anemic compared with his prints with MIS dyes. In general, my impression was that all the Ultrachrome prints I saw were not very impressive. Of course, this might be a reflection of the fact that they're new, and its a matter of getting the right profiles, RIP, or whatever. There were some beautiful prints with MIS-FS, and I brought along a few prints with MIS-VM. I only stayed a couple of hours, so I don't know what happened after I left. Perhaps other attendees could comment. Thanks again to Mark, it was a great idea, and Brian's place was perfect for the meeting. Evan Wolarsky
