Digital BW, The Print

I'm very happy with the results of my SprintScan 4000; however, I 
sometimes would like to scan a bit beyond the whole frame, getting 
results equivalent to those you get with a filed negative carrier in 
an enlarger. Sure, I could create black borders in PS, but they tend 
to be too regular -- I like the somewhat irregular (even ragged) look 
you get from a filed carrier. Anyone out there try filing their 
scanner neg carrier to get more of the frame scanned?
