Following up on Davids brighteners question... A topic that also hasn't been rung out yet is the inkjet receptive coatings, and how they interact with the different inks. Surely most papers are built to be usable with the widest possible range of inks, yet they may react differently with each one. I know all these variables are enough to drive some of us crazy, but this is why testing of some kind (every kind?) is so important. I do believes the likes of Strand and Steiglets would have been yakking about this stuff too, if they were seeing their prints fade in a matter of a couple of years, or if they encountered Butch's pillow. I'd like to hear from the paper manufacturers what sort of testing, or at least knowledge base, goes into their receptive coating considerations from an image stability consideration, and how dyes and pigment inks differ in their needs from a coating as far as stability is concerned.
