Re: [Digital BW] Mat Cutters

2002-11-28 by Jerry Olson

Hi Tim,

I have a Logan that I paid about $250 for, and it does an excellent job of
cutting mats for 13x19 inch prints. It is 40 inches long, and if you will
never use it for larger prints, you won't need anything bigger. It comes
with a 45 degree bevel cutter and a straight cutter, for cutting mat boards,
papers, etc. It is easy to use, and the blade rides in a groove so your cuts
are always perfect.

You need to put a stop at the right side of the mat cutter, to prevent the
entire cutter from moving while you are cutting the mat. I have a huge
table in my basement, covered with indoor carpet. (35 feet long, 4 feet
wide). At the very right end, there is another carpeted piece of wood nailed
to the table, about an inch high, and 4 feet long, and the right side of the
mat cutter sits against this, providing an extremely sturdy mat cutter that
cannot move during the cut.
