I just received ImagePrint 5.0 for my 2200 yesterday, and I thought I would post my initial experience and problems so far. I hope someone out there has had the same problem and can help me solve it. I got the impression that ColorByte Software was very small and I don't expect anyone from technical support to be there to help me until Monday at the earliest. I am running on a Windows XP machine with the 2200 connected via USB. I can print fine through the Epson driver, but when I print through ImagePrint, the "spool_face" program shows that it is starting to print the job and will stop at 12%. I've tried multiple images and no matter what I print, I get the same results. Looking at the printer, the power-on (green) light is flashing and the paper (red) light is lit solid. According to Epson's web-based troubleshooting tool, that combination of lights means the printer could not feed the paper. I never hear the printer make any noise as if it is trying to feed the paper though. It just sits there silent while IP sends the data until the red light comes on. Then IP freezes. If I power off and back on the printer, the error condition will clear, and IP will happily continue sending the data until it reaches 100% and assumes the file was printed. The printer never makes any noise, and nothing is ever printed. I've tried ColorByte's troubleshooting tips from their web page and have had no luck resolving the problem. Without changing a thing, I can print fine from Photoshop using the Epson print driver, and I've made sure that IP and the Epson print driver port numbers match (USB004). I plan to try the FireWire port next if I can find a local store that has the correct cable. In general, I'm disappointed in the "unpolished" look of the software and installation program. I get the impression that the product was rushed out the door. The installation program does not create any shortcuts to the PDF manual that is copied to the hard drive. You have to navigate to the installation directory yourself to find it. Also, I think they could have come up with something more professional sounding than "spool_face" for their print que manager and made it easier to use. To delete a job, you have to move it from the column on the left to the column on the right (which I guess is for completed jobs since there are no titles on the columns) and then you have to move it to the right again (off-screen) to delete it. I could easily look past all the user-interface issues if I could just get the thing to work. I'd really like to see the quality of the print and feel better about what I got for my $500. --Tom
