Digital BW, The Print

I have had my quadtone 1160 with vari mix cfs sitting around for almost
2 years. I just started using it to do some serious printing, and after
a few 8x10s, lost magenta. I unscrewed the cap, and pulled out the hose,
and there was gelled ink around the tube, and the ink was jelled so
badly that a string of it pulled out the end of the hose. I removed the
cfs and installed a couple epson carts, and after several hours, got a
clean nozzle check. Is this quadtone system of mine scrap? 

I am considering replaceing the whole system (cfs-ink) What system mis
is best? There is no way I am springing for the cone system.
