Re: [Digital BW] WAS: EAM or Enhanced EAM? NOW: 5-10% discount?

BTW: Those "signing pens" we will be offering will have the "x7x" name
on them.. and 50% of any profits will be plowed into the group, to
hopefully put the group in a position where we can rationally consider
one day moving to our own server, etc. Should Yahoo! changes one day
make that desirable..

As I've consistently said about the x7x list, it's the members, not I,
that make it what it is (it's a philosophy quite different from that in
reign at the Piezo list which, at base, for better and worse, does
remain tied to a single vendor) .. The listmembers are the ones who
deserve to benefit for creating the community they constitute.. They
choose to participate voluntarily and give of their time, bandwidth,
knowledge, and hard-disk space... They give to other users and
constitute the heart of the EPSON market.

Many of the most knowledgeable members give of time that might be more
directly profitably put into printing or work on their own images.. The
least they all deserve is some small recognition of their importance to
the market they have helped develop. Many, many of them were on the
Leben list, or pursuing serious digital printing, years before I joined
the community. In many ways, I just see myself as a guy who's willing
to say what others think.. Who's willing to get attacked once in awhile
for being overly blunt ot forthright.. The ideas, the concerns, the
genius is their communal doing... not mine.

That's why I am philosophically opposed to having the x7x list become
commercial or tied to any particular vendor at the expense of others..
To be ineluctably clear, the only reason Jon Cone and IJM are not part
of the discount program is that Jon and I are at personal odds right
now.. If I believed he might be receptive to similarly offering a
discount or posting his current newsletter, etc. I would have no
personal, or other, problem with doing so. If the users benefit, I'm
happy; plain and simple.
