Digital BW, The Print

Some on the Canon lists, like that at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Canon-printers

have reportedly liked the B&W output from the stock printer, I can't 
comment since I use Lyson Fotonics in my S9000 and have EPSONs with 
other inks (lyson and MIS) dedicated to B&W only printing..
