FYI: fix for Silverfast hangs at 100% scan problem

2003-01-05 by frankg_photo <fh.gross@sympatico.ca>

Regarding the stalling problem I've been experiencing, I want to
report a fix that I hope will be permanent.
On this page http://www.silverfast.com/faq/1029/en.html there is a
suggestion to solve a very different issue, but I thiought I'd give
it a try anyway since I hadn't heard back from Lasersoft & no-one
else had any ideas on what to do.
I deleted the entire contents of the SF prefs folder (PS>Plug-
ins>ImportExport>SF>Prefs) and started again.
Actually, I cut & pasted the contents into a temp directory in case I
needed to retrieve it.
Voila !
It now appears to be working correctly. I'm not sure why or how
but........

Another benefit seems to be that I now have more support for the
glass film holder. If I select 6x9 as the film size in the scan
preview window, I can crop to any size.

I have included my original 'plea' for help below:

I am using Silverfast Ai version 6.01 r28 - the PS plugin version
Polaroid Sprintscn 120 with latest firmware
Photoshop 6.01
Windows 98SE & 768mb ram
Scanning in Normal mode, not Normal(file).
Mainly 16 bit Grayscale scan type.

Problem is that after the scanner finishes scanning , the little blue
progress bar shows that it is finished, then nothing happens ! It is
almost frozen !
IT DOESNT BRING THE SCAN INTO PS!

The little Blue progress bar is complete.
A thumbnail of the image is complete.
And the little aeroplane with moving propeller is still flying.

If I click the Cancel button, it will often do what was supposed to
happen - bring the image into Photoshop.
