Jim, My solution to making digital cantact sheets on the cheap (relatively speaking), was to head for eBay. What I ended up with was an Agfa Arcus II, which comes standard with transparency adapter (up to 8x10 capability) in the lid. Other than being a bit noisy when in transparency mode, I'm very pleased with its performance. The scanner is almost exclusively used for scanning entire rolls of 35mm film for filing and enlarged contact sheets (sometimes up to 13x19"), both b/w and color neg.
