I have fond memories of a razor sharp Apple 12" Grayscale monitor, 
but I'm afraid that grayscale monitors have fallen out of favour. The 
current line of Apple Studio LCD-displays has a good reputation for 
its accurate white balance. If you are not on a Mac, you can probably 
find something equivalent.
