I had always been warned against shipping a charged CIS. However, I 
think it's doable if you're *very* careful. I've never done it but 
here are my thoughts.

1. You'll need to plug up the carts with the EZ plugs you can get as 
CIS accessories (inkjetart). I think you should also use some 
electrical tape to secure the plugs to the carts to make sure that 
they will not come loose during shipping.  

2. Remove the tubing and bottle caps, clean off any ink on the inside 
of the bottle caps, dab the tube ends with a paper towel to soak up 
excess ink and then fold the tubes back on themselves and secure them 
with a bulldog clip (like when you're first priming the CIS). Wrap 
the folded ends of the tubing in small plastic bags or perhaps just 
some kitchen cling film.

3. Put the whole assembly (plugged carts and wrapped tubing) in 
another plastic bag for total security. A freezer bag with all the 
air squeezed out would be ideal.

4. Cap the ink bottles with the caps originally supplied with the 
ink. Nalgene designed these bottles to ship liquids without spillage -
 guaranteed - so you shuld be OK if the caps are secure.  To be on 
the safe side, you can always put the bottles in freezer bags and 
seal after squeezing all the air out.

The buyer would probably have to recharge these CISes at his end by 
using a syringe and bottom fill adaptors - see MIS CFS 
troubleshooting page.  Like I said, I've never tried it so no 
guarantees that it would work.  But it certainly beats having to 
clean out the lines etc.
