Re: MIS Inks and workflow

2003-01-28 by Joe <rockclimber@yahoo.com>

Hi Ed,

Other, much more experienced folks here may give you some more
detailed info but as a fellow beginner here are my thoughts:

1) You don't need PS, but you do need a graphics program that allows
you to use the PS curves supplied by Paul Roark and others (or a
program that allows you to make your own curves). I use both PS and
the much more affordable Picture Window Pro by Jonathan Sachs. PWP
is a great, fairly inexpensive graphics program designed for
photographers. I highly recommend it as it allows you to both import
PS curves and create your own (I understand that PWP was used to
create some of the curves that are available for download from the
kind folks here).

2) As far as I know, none of the MIS b&w inks will cause metamerism.
I use the VM inks and have really come to like them - can print very
cool to fairly warm prints from the same ink set.

3) If it's a failure, you can return to printing color without any
problem.

Good luck!

Really liked your site - especially the "things" series.

Cheers!
