Thanks for the replies, all. OK, it sounds like Photoshop "might" be a necessity, so here's an idea: I actually need another printer right now, because my family computer's old Lexmark is biting the dust. So, if I give up my old beloved 740 to the wife and kids, that leaves me in need so I might as well buy a decent one for photos with the long term B&W (and some color) plan in mind, right? So I guess it would be either a 1280 or a 2200. Now I've been reading this list for month or two and it's obvious the 2200 technology is the future, but there's been some people who have had some issues with it. Other than the 1280 inks not being archival, I've heard nobody really complain about it, and my impression is that it's regarded somewhat as a "Modern Classic". And, it's cheaper.....And, if I buy a 1280, I should get Photoshop Elements with it, right? So, two more questions: 1. Can I get started with the curves by using Photoshop Elements? 2. Is there a good argument for buying a 2200 over a 1280 that I should consider? Thanks, Ed http://lightandsilver.com
