Sorry, I gave an old URL. My photos of the Golden Trout Camp area are at:

I'm amazed the old one worked at all.

Eager to look at your page but there seems to be something wrong with:
http://www.silcom.com/~proark/GTthumbnails.html.
since I keep getting a 404.
Thanks

Subject: [Digital BW] OT - High Sierra Camp
Please excuse my OT plug. However, some on the list expressed interest
last
year.
I participate in a High Sierra (California, above Lone Pine) workshop
that
is given each year. It is a non-profit, educational organization, and
my
only remuneration is going to the camp.
There are three one-week sessions that are only $395. The "Golden Trout
Natural History Workshop" is in the Golden Trout Wilderness (the only
one of
its kind) just south of and boardering on the John Muir Wilderness.
(The
workshop has nothing to do with fish.) The workshop has naturalists who
are
oriented to natural history, not photography, but there are usually
people
like me there who relate to the wilderness more through photography.
It's
not a structured camp, but there are interpreted hikes every day to
very
interesting places by highly experienced naturalists. I usually go on a
few
of the interpreted hikes and then also just head off on my own.
In general, it's just about the easiest way to get into the high
country.
The camp itself is at 10000 feet, and the energetic types can get to the
top
of 14,000+ ft. Mt. Langley. There are loads of interesting photo ops
from
the 100 year old cabins in the camp itself to the spectacular scenery of
the
High Sierras just south of Whitney.
I have some photos of the area at
http://www.silcom.com/~proark/GTthumbnails.html.
The camp's website is at http://www.1startists.com/gtc/.
I'll be up there for the second session from July 6 to July 12, 2003.
Contact me off list if you have any interest in the camp.
