No, Cone doesn't sell it anymore, but he was licensing from Sundance, they are now selling ot themselves through a couple of the online supply houses like Inkjetgoodies.com I've seen results from bot IP5 and Sundance, and Sundance struck me as having a dither that was much finer and less visible than the IP5. As far as I can tell, IP5 controls the tonal range (and does a superb job of it) but doesn't change the standard Epson microweave pattern at all. I've been trying to get some input on that impression, but so far no one has confirmed or contradicted it. >>and mix my own inks from different brands MIS, Cone inks, > etc. You can avoid mixing your own quite easily, and if you buy the driver you should, otherwise the profiles that come with it won't work. I may mix&match inks if I go that route, but I'll simply duplicate the densities they use, which is no big deal, as long as the new problem (the base liquid that's available apparently contributes to the instabilty?)that Paul just threw out gets solved. >Conclusion: spending same amount of money as for the printer to get > a software That does bite, doesn't it? > see what happens (2-6 month's time?) and hope that there will be a good > workflow solution. Nope, Paul's in the same boat I'll bet you see some quick results! > 4: Time is not right yet for this printer doing only BW, Be happy and > print color :<) COLOR SUCKS<G> > If you have an IP5 for the 7500 and upgrade to 7600 can you "move" over > IP5 to 7600 or do you need a new licence? I Have no idea- you might e-mail Colorbyte and ask. I know this is probably a bit hard to handle, but unless you can afford to spend the price of the printer on the IP5 and Cone's new inks,I suggest you either put the 7500 on hold for a couple of weeks, or take a cheap temporary fix in the form of some empty cartridges, a bottle or two of black, and some clear base. In other words, mix a load yourself and get going if you're itching to do it. Use this load to get oriented, calibrate and align the head, do sample prints for your portfolio, etc. By the time you've used the first set of carts (which are refillable) there should be a better solution available. If you decide to go this route, contact me offlist & I'll give you a list and formula that's working for me, that'll get you started. Best luck, Steve K
