I have been experimenting using the black ink only setting on my Epson 2200 with only Epson's standard cartridges. So far I am very encouraged with the results. I am very curious about whether others have tried using the black ink only setting with the Epson 2200, and their opinion about the resulting B&W prints. Too, any questions, observations and/or suggestions about the workflow below will be much appreciated.
Using the follow settings/paper/ink and PS 7, the resulting B&W print is neutral in tone:
Epson Enhanced Matte Paper
Matte Black ink
Profile: Enhanced Matte
Intent: Perceptual
Black Point is checked
Ink--Black (Matte Black is installed)
Color Controls is chosen
Gamma: 1.8
Print Quality: 2880
High Speed: Off
In PS--Channel Mixer is used to convert to B&W. Settings in Channel Mixer are: Red +43;Green+ 33 and Blue +24. The the image is then desaturated (Image>Adjustments>Desaturate).
