John- Neither is the 777 a photo printer, but I do get some incredible prints from that and the C80. A lot depends on the subject. Definitly not a "people" printer. Having just given away my C80 and buying a C82 for $129, I am crushed. I, too, do not believe the C82 produces the same punch the C80. If the Durabrite inks really have more pigment, that would account for a lot of theat. As far as "higher resolution" --ehh. I don't use a loupe on inkjet prints. Normal viewing distance won't show squat at 5760 or 2880 more than 1440/HS off. Marketing ?!?! I do agree, however, that 6 or 7-color inks are the way for color. The C80 gave me pigment without the cost. (Heck, even had some slf pretentious artist tell my partner how good my "water color technique" was on a print. <GGG> Never know.
