Hello Paul,

Haven't wrote to you or the list in quite some time.

I have been playing with the MIS UC replacements in a 1280, from the
experimental carts they are selling that utilize the glossy black.
Currently all of my testing has been with color, and the profiling is
excellent, so I will try some B&W very soon. Output from the 1280
gets very close to the 2200 with this inkset with the visible
differences coming from the driver and different printhead. The inks
show a touch more bronzing than I see from the 2200. Playing with ink
reductions in IP 5 to see if they can be minimized like the 2200.

Not 100% sure if this is the same formulation that the bulk inks are
though - it was indicated by MIS that they are a little different but
not how or why. They mentioned that they were going to come out with
a slightly modified version for the printers that weren't designed
for pigments in the first place with a slightly lower pigment load
(ie. 12xx, 3000, 7000, 9000 etc..). Gamut is very good definitely
much higher than the archival pigs and probably very close to the UC
ink.

There is a tiny bit of microbanding present in some color patches on
glossy stock. The better head alignment utility of the 1280 vs a 1270
or similar helps to minimize most but doesn't totally eliminate it.
Most people don't notice it unless I point it out and even then it
takes them a while to see it, so it is very acceptable. Maybe the
other formulation they mentioned will eliminate it.

Trying to decide if I want to use them in my 7000. Metamerism is
there (as in any pigment - nature of the beast) but about the same as
the UC ink. Profiling makes it a non issue though just like the UC
ink. I really think that these inks could be used in the
2200/7600/9600 and you would not be able to distinguish them from the
UC with a proper profile.

D max from the matte based K should be much better than the archival
pigs just like UC.
