Tom--I have been a hellava time with the RIP. Since it was printing so slow I uninstalled everything and hooked up a firewire connection to the computer in addition to the USB connection. I could not get the RIP to print anything except gobbledegook. I must have installed and uninstalled the RIP 20 times but finally I did get the RIP to install. But, now I am getting the same muted red color that you are getting. I never had this problem with the LTP connection. I am still working on trying to get back to where I was when the prints looked pretty good. Only I am getting tired of wasting ink and paper. If and when I do get it back to where I was satisfied with the prints, I will try to remember the settings which made that possible. Peter From: Thomas Fors After all the settings for the Epson RIP that were flying around this list last week, I tried it again on the 2200 and somehow screwed it up to the point that everything was coming out a sick muted red color. So, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software (Win XP). My first print after the reinstall got rid of the red color, but I still see the problem I was seeing before: warm/brown in the 5-10% patches of Paul Roark's step wedge. Cool blue/purple at 15-20%. Warm again from 25-40%, and then a magenta cast from 45-85%. I then made changes to the driver settings one at a time to see where the red problem came from. It appears that when I select the MatteBK+LightBK ink setting in Start/ControlPanel/Printers/.../Properties/DeviceSettings/InstallableOptions /BlackInkCombination, I get the horrible red color in my prints using both B&W and Color settings when printing. I even tried restarting Photoshop and PServer and the only way to get rid of the red was to switch back to PhotoBK+LightBK even though I'm using Matte Black ink. I've seen one post that someone was able to get the MatteBK+LightBK setting to work. I'd be interested in hearing from others if they get the same red results I get using that setting. --Tom [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
