As a former inkjet driver writer and a current image processing sw engineer I have an interest in the dithering and rendering algorithms used in inkjet printing. Fixed or variable cell size, stochastic or deterministic dithering algorithms, resample first or interpolate from the original pixels? Etc. These things might seem esoteric and arcane to you and some others but they have consequences for our printing. This stuff might seem pedantic (hence my joke in my response to Austin about this being worth 30% of your grade on the optimal DPI thread) but as long as they are filled with facts and knowledge and not ad hominem attacks I don't see anything wrong with them here. I recently posted a link to my website to a study I was doing on inkjet printing on artist's media which is even more esoteric. I'm about to update it with some new information about the differences between Epson Photo Black and Matte Black inks that have real, if arcane, relevance to black and white inkjet printing.
