I stripped all of my peripherals and their software off and restored 
XP to before they were added, everything worked fine. I then started 
adding the peripherals back on until I found the combination of 
computer, software and peripherals that caused the error. It was the 
785 and the Gray Balancer software. My theory is that the gray 
balancer is trying to control the 785 in the same way it controls the 
2200. What I don't know is if it is a combination of the 785, Gray 
Balancer and XP. I would have to try a different operating system to 
find that out. The fact that you say that you run Win2k without 
problems would make me think that XP has some hand in the problem as 
well.
