I've also checked them out.  The Formac 2010 plus custom spyder looks 
like a winning combination.  My concern is that this monitor has not 
yet been tested with the ATI Radeon 9700 AGP card that comes with the 
Gateway (although it has been tested with the Radeon 7500).  I asked 
if I could return the monitor if it didn't work with my video card: 
the answer is yes, but I'd be hit with a 20% restocking fee (plus 
shipping charges both ways).  So it would be a gamble.

Is anyone using a Formac with the ATI Radeon 9700?

Same here, Jim.  Gateway acutally offers an affordable bundle with 
its 700XL series: two 18.1" flat panels for half the price of the 
Formac 2010.  It's tempting.  I've seen that LCD screen (local 
Gateway store) and its a beaut.  But its native resolution is only 
1200x1024, and I'm not at all sure how flexible it is in terms of 
calibration (I rather doubt it has many options).  The Formac looks 
like more of a professional tool.  I just they sold through retail 
channels so I could buy one locally and test it out.
