Digital BW, The Print

I've been following the posts on clogging problems. I'm about to use
quadtone inks for the first time- the MIS VM cartridge on my 1200 printer.
I've used it with Epson inks and once or twice a while ago I use some third
party inkjet mall inks but then went back to the Epsons. I've had this
printer for about 3 1/2 years and never had any clogging issues at all-
nothing one or two cleanings didn't clear up right away. Sounds like I'm in
for a change unless I get really lucky.
Questions:

#1. Should I do any special cleaning of the printer before I put the MIS
cartridge in for the first time. According to their website I don't need to
but they also claim that their inks cause absolutely no clogging problems.

#2. There was some discussion a week ago or so about humidity. I'm in
Berkeley, CA. It is California but it's not Southern California so not as
dry here. Does it make any sense to consider humidity as a factor in some of
these clogging issues?
