Most people I know set it to 1280x1024, but I may know
a higher-end crowd.

Anyway you should set it to the highest setting your monitor
and videocard can display properly, and at an adequately high
refresh rate to avoid visible flicker (which varies with
individuals, monitor phosphor persistence, and lighting 
conditions but could be anywhere from 72-90 Hz.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
