Kevin,

The Epson scansoftware and Vuescan both deliver 48 bit RGB, 16
bit Greyscale.
Lasersoft Silverfast SE has no higher choice than 48>24 bit for
transparent and reflective sacnning. So that one probably still
scans at 48 bit but the output is artificially reduced to 24 bits
to make the full Silverfast version more attractive I guess.
