Re: Infused Paper? + PMA report: DIMA Shoot Outs results available

Steve: <It somehow seems to make sense that blending the inkjet coating into
the paper instead of simply coating it would produce a better paper, but I
would love to hear any theories and explanations as to why. And also what
the down side might be? Does the company making this have a web-site? Is
there any more info available beyond the two- second sound bite we've been
tossed so far?>

I'm testing the new Bockingford Inkjet (with Andrew Darlow). Review will be
up soon. The patent-holder/inventor of this particular process (John Edmunds)
claims increased durability and longevity. His website isn't up yet. The
company is called FuturesWales, Ltd. in Wales.

Ernst: <... Schoellershammer (Germany) brought some inkjet coated papers on
the market about 18 months ago. They claimed that the paper was coated in the
paper pulp before actual papermaking and that it had advantages.... >

I didn't realize this, but if true, they sure didn't do a very good marketing
job! ;-) Since Edmunds claims the patent, I assume the Schoellershammer
process is somewhat different.

P.S. The DIMA/PMA Printer and Camera Shoot-Outs results (with their typo on
printers fixed -- it was Epson 1290 not 1250) are now available on my site at:
