Check out http://www.3m.com/us/mfg_industrial/reclosables/pguide_shell.jhtml It's basically velcro on steroids. Both halves are the same. Once it's snapped together, it takes a lot of force to release. I replaced the velcro on my 1160 CIS arm with this stuff, and you can literally flex the arm up and down several inches and it will stay put. It might be difficult to source this stuff. Perhaps nomorecarts might be interested in buying a spool of this stuff and offering small lengths for sale? This stuff is great for other uses too. I use it to securely attach radio slaves to monolights, for instance.
