Forgive the question, I think I've missed this in the past.  But I'm hearing
this suggestion that the 1160 has a "counter" and once this "counter"
reaches a magic number, it'll stop working???  Where is this counter
information accessed? And What is this magic number?  (I pray I'm just
misunderstanding!)

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
