Digital BW, The Print

I am dying to switch to the UltraTones for my 1280, but a little scared by the 
"experimental" idea. Can anyone set my mind at ease and/or tell me why to wait? 

I'm on a mac using a 1280. I am not skilled enough to make my own curves so I 
would be relying on the "old" curves, and/or making my own for QuadtoneRip (the 
only sw that I actually kinda understand the curve process for)
