Re: [Digital BW] Black Only - Epson 2100

Check previous posts on Ink Jet Control (IJC) or Open Print Maker.
Currently these are Mac only options but they allow you to control
individual channels in your 2200 so that you can use light black and black
as well as small amounts of cyan and magenta to get more neutral prints. It
gives far superior prints to the black only option both in terms output
quality and tone.

A free option, if you are on MacOS X or Linux is the QuadtoneRIP. This uses
GIMP Print as the driver and allows people to build in curves at the driver
level and also control metamerism by eliminating yellow, but there hasn't
been a lot of development done with the 2200...but once again there are
posts in the archives.

Another more expensive Mac or Windows option is the Imageprint RIP
(www.colorbytesoftware.com) which also eliminates the yellow ink (the source
of metamerism) and gives neutral prints. There are many posts on Imageprint
(search under Imageprint or IP or IP5).

You may also find the recent thread "B&W on Epson 2200 -- A Summary"
helpful.
