I can't vouch for the exact Dmax measurement of the ArtixScan 1800f, but my experience is it has far more than other expensive flatbeds I have used in the past. It is better than my Poloroid SS4000 slide scanner for shadow detail. I am glad it is a drawer scanner, which greatly reduces the amount of glass and dust between the lens and trannie. The 1800ppi is real. I am very happy with my choice. tom robinson > Simon Whitehead wrote > > > I have also considered the Microtek ArtixScan 1800f but this is MUCH > more expensive and the spec doesn't quite seem to justify it (except > for the Dmax figure of 4.8! - does anyone believe that is real?)
