Digital BW, The Print

When I scan 35mm colour slides on my LS 2000 they come in Photoshop 
at 300dpi as the image size. When I scan my B&W negatives, with help 
from you, they come out in Photoshop as Image size 1350 dpi.
Is this good or bad? 
Should I do something about it? 
Why is there this difference? 
Is it related to Digital ICE now being switched off?
