You really don't need six channels for grayscale. The advantage of doing it with a 2200 is that the 2200 has the potential to put down more ink...which for the blacks can result in a higher dmax. The 2200 is the ideal printer because of speed, ink flow and flexibility...it allows you to either use a CIS, individual carts...or for that matter easily use some combination of these. Of course at this point you have to wash out carts...which is a major pain...but hopefully the virgin empty carts will be available soon. Now, honestly, you really don't need to make a dual black 2200...its so easy to switch between the photo black and matte black...all you really need to do is switch the cart and then develop two different profiles for using each of the blacks. I should add that the profiles are really different because of how different the dmax are and the behavior of matte and RC papers...so having the ability to develop the separate profiles is really critical. Where having a dual black option would really be a big help is on the large format printers...where changing carts is a big deal because of ink waste. Eventually I plan to do this with my 7000, once I use up all my piezotone ink. I think the ultimate large format printers, will be the 7600/9600...but IJC doesn't support those yet. Robert
