Digital BW, The Print

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations on a 100% rag paper that will print as
sharp as EEM.  (I'm using MIS VM inks)  I tested a sample pack from
MIS with Crane Museo and Somerset Photo Enhanced Velvet, among others.
 The Museo bled, and the SPE held sharpness pretty well - not quite as
sharp as EEM, but acceptable.  So, I ordered a roll and package of
SPE.  

After making several test prints (on both sides, just to be sure), the
SPE that I ordered bleeds significantly more than the sample sheet I
tried from MIS.  Also, the same inks show a different color between
the two. ????

Is there usually such variation between batches?  Can anyone recommend
other papers to try?  I like a little surface tooth, the SPE was about
as rough as I'd like to go.
