Digital BW, The Print

Printing from Windows XP out of Photoshop 7 onto my gnarly old Epson 
Stylus Color Photo 750, I cannot seem to get the levels on the print 
to match what I get on my screen, despite mucho calibration measures.
To get it to match, I have to cut the levels by 30 points or so in 
PS, and then the print matches well enough. (These are color prints.)

I wish I didn't have to do this. In Windows 98, I could solve this 
problem by adjusting the advanced preferences values, but it's all 
different in XP, and the old measures don't work.

I can't seem to get the old driver back, and this is the onboard XP 
driver.


Can anyone point to a solution?
