Yume-

I had the first version and didn't like it at all...I've used the 
second version and also Extensis Mask Pro. Both are fair. Somewhat 
difficult to really use well (though Knock Out is easier, maskpro 
probably can do a better job if you are really going to master it.).

I think it depends on how often you need to do the separations and 
how complex they will be...if you only do the ocassional one, the 
extract tool in Photoshop is probably going to work for you. 

If you are going to do a lot, the Mask Pro is most powerful and 
precise and the Knock Out is the fastest to do the job with.
