Canon i950 will be a definite improvement for you, but it sounds more like the resolution is set incorrectly. Check under Image/Image Size and see what resolution is. Sounds like it might be set to 72, maybe a default setting from the camera? Or maybe the resolution is set incorrectly in your printer driver. Just a couple of thoughts.
