I did as you suggested, but still received a lot of blue "noise" across the entire photo, and if I look close enough I can see, what I believe are print lines. -----Original Message----- From: Colin & Linda McKie [mailto:colinmckie@...] Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2003 6:01 PM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re[2]: [Digital BW] Print Help Hi David, That '72 dpi' is the problem. The D7 file has no dpi/ppi info attached as that's meaningless for the file at that point. Photoshop just assigns the last ppi figure it used to a file like that, so that many of our D7 pics show up as 1800 ppi becuse the last image with a specified resolution came from the film scanner. That's why I said you should resize for printing with 'Resample image' unticked. The pixel dimensions will remain unchanged, but when you put in your print dimensions the pixels/inch will change to around 200-300 for an A4/letter size print. That is the right sort of figure to send to the printer. If you buy a new printer and send it 72 ppi files, the results will still be garbage. On the D7 quality setting, stick where you are. Super Fine saves as a TIFF file, rather than a JPEG, a full 14.1 MB, with no easily detectable improvement. RAW mode allows you to use 12 bit/pixel and do most of your processing out of the camera. Can be useful when you want to alter pictures a lot.
